Game Begins

FREECHAKU FEDERATION

With:

Flowtoys
Precision Strikes
Woodallīs Custom Workshop

PRESENT

The FNWC is an online video tournament, organized by the Freechaku Federation through freestyleforum.net

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTC-C59iuTo" target="_blank" class="aeva_link bbc_link new_win">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTC-C59iuTo</a>

Nunchaku artists from around the world create three minute videos demonstrating their style, ability and artistry. The entries are seeded and then randomly drawn into the groups*. Members of the freestyleforum nunchaku community vote for their favorite videos, which progress into a video play-off to find our 2010 World Champion. (*Number of groups will depend on the number of entries)

2010 will be the third year the Freestyle Nunchaku World Cup has taken place. With every tournament the bar has been raised, so please be ready to shows us at least your 110% in this competition!

Last year we had an EPIC FINAL, were each vote count for the final result:

Matt-Chez: 51 votes (video)
Yetibutt: 47 votes (video)

RULES FOR ENTRY
1. Video must not be longer than 3 minutes. ( + 3 second, for unexpected lengthening on uploading).
2. Video must state clearly at the beginning:
 - participant's name or online username
 - nation the participant wants to represent
 - the name of the video (if not stated it will be referred to as 'paticipant's video')
 - logo or name of www.freestyleforum.net
3. Video must not include footage that has been used in a previous Freechaku Federation competition.
4. The majority of the video must include nunchaku usage.
5. The video must be put as a reply in youtube for the promo video

And that's it, it's that simple! Which means...
 - Videos can be one uncut shot of a three minute performance, or they can be edited compilations of different performances.
 - Video can use slow-motion to highlight difficult, fast moves
 - Videos can use other video editing techniques for artistic effect
 - Videos can include use of staffs, poi, swords and other props as long as the majority is nunchaku
 - Videos can have stories
 - etc...

IF YOU DONīT FOLLOW THE RULES, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE PART IN THE WORLD CUP, SO PLEASE READ THEM AGAIN, AND IF YOU DONīT UNDERSTAND ONE, PLEASE ASK!

It's all up to you! Just have some fun! You can check the awards given last year, in THIS BOARD

The World Cup is not just for the most dedicated nunchaku artists, participants of all level are involved. For those already members of the community it's a great opportunity to show the rest of us how you've been getting on and for new members it's the perfect opportunity to introduce yourself. There's definitely no bias in the voting against new members! This is a friendly tournament, donīt think that you can not participate... remember that anyone can freestyle! And anyone can participate in this tournament!

SCHEDULE
Sunday 10th January 2009 - Video submission deadline.
Monday 11th January 2009 - Groups are drawn
Tuesday 12th January 2009 - Voting begins

VOTING PROCEDURE
To vote in the world cup you must register for an account with freestyleforum.net - don't worry, it's completely free.
You must make five posts in the forum to activate your voting privileges - why not introduce yourself in our welcome lobby and give some feedbacks to the videos?

GROUP STAGE
There must be at least three videos in each group.
If there are 24 - 48 entries, we will have 8 groups of 3 or more videos.
If there are 48 - 72 entries we will have 16 groups of 3 or more videos.
If there are more than 72 entries, we will have 24 groups of 3 or more videos

(Note: if we have 24 groups, then the final will be a three part match, according to the diagram below)

In case of any draw, all the draw videos will go to the next stage, generating polls of more people than expected, but with the same rules

Members vote for two videos in each group.

In each group there will be one seeded entry.
The seeds will be drawn randomly, then the rest of the entries. This will be done live.
Groups are labeled with letters A to H and paired-up, A with B, C with D, etc.
The winner of each group progresses through.
The 2nd place video of group A, plays-off with the 3rd place video of group B and vice versa.

This is the only thing I don't understand...

"The video must be put as a reply in youtube for the promo video"

What does that mean?

It means that when you upload your vid, you go to the promo vid made by Steph http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTC-C59iuTo and use the "post a video response" link to upload.

On a side note, whenever I tried posting a response... it didn't work. I wouldn't want to be disqualified if that happens  hide

Peace!

When you watch a video in youtube, just before the text comments there is an option that said "reply with a video". You click there, and follow the steps to put the video that you uploaded in your channel as reply of the promo video (that is the video in the top of this page)

huh  can you try again? I just put a DIY tutorial, and it worked perfectly... can you try again, and tell me what happens please?  thumbs-up

Got it, thanks thumbs-up
That is actually a good idea, it will probably be the video with the most responses on it in all of youtube land.

Oh, and good work on the promo vid steph 2 thumbs up respect

Now I am just wondering about the members who don't use youtube to upload their vids, I hope there will be some sort of exeption to the rules for those members. I cant see someone creating a youtube channel just to post one vid on it because they have to. Just a thought that may have been overlooked.

Yes, you can have a mix in the videos, but the majority MUST be freestyle. For example, you can make an intro of you doing parkour to reach your nunchaku in a high building, and then freestyle (the most) and then an ending of you leaving doing parkour. The important thing is that freestyle must be the main theme of the video  thumbs-up

Yep, for example the case of China, they donīt have access to youtube (itīs block  doh), so is natural that they wont use youtube, so they donīt need to reply to the video. But if you can make a reply, we encourage (with the rule) to do it, in order to link all the videos with the forum channel, so outsiders viewers can understand better what is going on  thumbs-up
